GENERAL PROTECTIVE SUITS

Polar Bears supply government agencies, local authorities, councils, water authorities, civil engineering contractors, in fact anyone that has to work in wet or dirty conditions.

Public sector and emergency services can purchase under the terms and conditions of the London Emergency Planning Authority contract.

For purchasing officers that are required to find equipment suitable for use in wet or cold conditions and for clean up situations, we can suggest suitable products that are already used for this work.

For anyone intending to use dry suits anywhere near rivers, flood water or the coast, we would be happy to provide information about where to obtain training.
Our dry suits are made for this type of work, but training and risk assessments are essential before going near anything more than a puddle.

Water Safety Suit

A general purpose version of the FR-1 suit. They are extensively used where a tough but comfortable garment for working in wet or dangerous conditions is required. As used by the Fire Service and many other rescue organisations. Black with high visibility orange top. Front entry zip. EN345 safety boots. Neoprene seals.

Water Transit Suit

For boat crews or water transit where the suit needs to be comfortable, provide a high level of protection in the event of immersion and spend the minimum of time out of service for repairs. They are currently used by both Police and Coastguard launch crews.

The multi fabric construction results in a suit that is comfortable to work in, but tough enough for years of regular use. Front diagonal zip.

Black lower body and legs, light weight upper body and arms in high visibility yellow. Ankle seals or welly type boots, quick change wrist seals. Extra cost options : safety boots, neoprene neck seals, internal braces.

Contaminated Clearance Suit

These are made from a smooth yellow material also used in chemical protection suits. They have latex neck seals, front diagonal zips, the latex cuff ring system to allow gloves to be attached directly to the suit and EN345 safety boots.

Water Patrol Suit

Water resistant with lightweight breathable high visibility yellow top and black polyester lower body and legs. Flexible nylon dry zip. Built in socks to allow the user their own choice of footwear. Neoprene neck and wrist seals.

Breathable fabrics allow water to wick through when saturated. Their water resistance is seriously reduced by contamination from detergents, fuel oils and salt crystals, so they need careful cleaning. They are not as robust as commercial dry suit materials, and do not have the same service life.
If you think you might find yourself in a fast RIB offshore, in the ocean trying to rescue someone or waiting to be rescued, or wading through dirty fast moving flood water, they are probably not for you. For inland waterway patrol boat crews that require a comfortable protective suit that will offer some protection in the case of accidental immersion they are satisfactory.

Chest Waders

Made from rubber coated dry suit material with full dry seam sealing. Extra knee reinforcement. EN345 safety boots. The best and toughest waders you can get. Easy to hose clean. Will last for years. They are easy to decontaminate and offer the minimum of resistance in flowing water. Training and risk assessment is essential before their use.
